thinkbaby #Giveaway courtesy of Jaydee Baby

Winner has been chosen and emailed

I came across thinkbaby line of products a few years ago while on the search for BPA free baby bottles. I loved what thinkbaby stood for: safe, functional and sustainable baby products.

Safety
Not only are all thinkbaby products BPA free, but when they look at building new products they don’t just jump and use the “newest” material around. They heavily rely on studies and science.

Functional
They don’t like to create the same old thing. They look for problems in the marketplace and determine ways to fix and improve them.

Sustainable
Thinkbaby products either have an extremely long use life or it needs to be recyclable. All the baby bottles can be converted to sippy cups and are made of recyclable plastic! Their feeding sets are lined with stainless steel so are virtually indestructible and can be used by all your children.

Jaydee Baby
While on my search for thinkbaby I came across a Canadian retailer, Jaydee Baby. Jaydee Baby not only carries the full line of thinkbaby products, but they also provide amazing customer service and carry only innovative and safe baby products. In addition to shipping in Canada they also ship to Australia, United Kingdom and the US!

I have been lucky enough to receive The Complete BPA Free Feeding Set from Jaydee Baby. This set is amazing!
Not only is it BPA free, but is a complete dishware set for your child from the moment they start solids and can be used later on when they take their lunches to school. All thinkbaby products are free of BPA, phthalates, nitrosamines, lead, and PVC The thinkbaby feeding set is also free of Melamine.

I love the easy grip fork and spoon. They are a perfect size for little hands learning to navigate food to their mouths. The Bento Box has an air tight lid and it does not leak, even if you fill it with liquid - I tried!.

The Complete BPA Free Feeding Set contains: Bento Box, Soup Bowl, Baby Bowl, fork and spoon and all pieces are free of Bisphenol-A (BPA), phthalates, nitrosamines, lead, PVC, PET, Tritan, Melamine and biologically harmful chemicals.

This set is great for children of all ages...now who wants one??

Winter 2012 PTPA Winners

Today, Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) announced the list of 2012 winter winners. All products were tested by parents across North America and those the winners have now been awarded the coveted seal.

I have been lucky enough to test out some of these winners and can vouch for their greatness... Big Oven Pro is a great tool for those that want to get their meal planning off to a great start and Buggy Shady attaches to your stroller and/or carseat to keep your little one out of the hot sun.

If you want to take the guess work out of what products are worthy of your purchase, check out list of winter PTPA winners.

Did you know Sears online price matches?

I ordered something from there years ago and totally forgot they provide this service!

A local baby store recently had some baby gates on sale for 50% off, but of course when I went to pick them up, there were none available. Instead of ordering them online and paying a, what I think is, ridiculous shipping fee I started to search around to see if anyone else had them on sale.

Sears had them at the regular price, but if you order them online they allow you to bring in the competitors ad when you pick up your purchase and they will refund you the difference. It really is that easy!

Don’t pay full price, unless you have to.

Permanent Ink - #ThankfulThurs

It's #ThankfulThurs....

I'm thankful for having a great husband who chose to honor and remember our little angel in permanent ink (even though he is terrified of needles).

The best way to earn Shoppers Optimum Points

I’ve been a long time collector of Shoppers Optimum Points, I remember signing up when they first launched the program back in 2000.

Even though I have collected for a long time, it wasn’t until recently that I started paying attention to the bonus redemption days, 20x point days and all the other “days” that would get me more points and more value for my points.

During my research of the program I learned a lot and thought I would share the in’s and outs with you.

How do you earn points?
You earn 10 points for almost every dollar you spend at Shoppers Drug Mart of PharaPrix (in QC).
Here is a chart showing you the value of your points:

If you wait until bonus redemption days – and they happen a few times a year, here is what you can expect to get for your points:

So if you save up 95000 points and redeem them during bonus redemption days you will have an extra $80 spend in store!

Now that you know how much you can get with your points, you probably want to know how you can get more of them...

How can you collect points faster?
  1. Visit Shoppers Optimum Offers site  to determine what items you can purchase to gain extra points. They will often have deals giving you bonus points for purchasing specific items.
  2. Share your points with others by transferring them to a friend or family member. I have a family member that never uses there points and are more than happy to send extra my way.
  3. If you are a parent, sign up for the Very Important Baby (VIB) program and receive special offers via mail and email that will earn you extra points.
  4. Ensure you make your big shopping trips during the special point events ie 20x points. In order to get the 20x points you need to spend $50 or more before tax and coupons. So if you spend $50 on a regular day you would get 500 points, but if you do this on the 20X points day you get 10,000 points, which is just over $10 in points. Do this 5 times throughout the year and you will get $85 off (50,000 points).
  5. If you are planning a large purchase at Shoppers, buy a gift card before you shop. If you buy a $100 Shoppers GC you will receive 1000 points for the purchase. Then when you use the card for shopping you will also earn up to 1000 points. It’s a bit like double dipping.
  6. Refer a friend event. I found an online group through SmartCanucks that organized a big refer a friend event. They put people into teams so everyone would be able to get the bonus points. But if you just want to do it with your closest pals all you have to do is register online and refer people. The people that you refer have to go to Shoppers (during the dedicated window) and spend at least $20. If they do, then you the referrer, will receive 5,000 bonus points.
Happy Shopping!

Here is a blurb from the Shoppers Optimum Program® Terms and Conditions on what does not qualify for points.

Shoppers Optimum Points will not be issued respecting the purchase of the following items/services: gift cards and prepaid card products (except Shoppers Drug Mart- branded gift cards), wireless phone cards, stamps, Post Office, passport photos, tickets provided by Ticket Ops or any other event ticket provider, bus tickets and passes, products with codeine, cigarettes and tobacco (where sold), lottery tickets, delivery charges (where applicable), bill payments (where accepted), bottle deposits/returns (where accepted), gift with purchases, charitable donations, the Shoppers Optimum Points redemption portion of a transaction, and any other items specified as exclusions from time to time or where prohibited by law.

Can't see for boxes

So I'm not sure who thought moving with a 10 month old was a great idea?!

I really didn't think that it would be that different from a normal move, other than I would need someone to watch Lil B.  I didn't think about things like nap times, feedings and the general - not baby friendly - mess we would be in.

We have unpacked the kitchen, thrown our clothes in the closet (literally), have a place to sit and watch TV and that is where the organization stops.  The mess is driving me crazy!

Tomorrow I am making a To Do List...

Pure Joy - #ThankfulThurs

I thought I start the year off by posting a photo along with a word or two to remind me of the things in my life that I should be thankful for. Here is my first #ThankfulThurs post.

This was Lil' B's first time on a swing...his face says it all.

Travel Stroller - A Guzzie+Guss G+G 103 Pender Review

When planning for our recent trip to Florida, one item I was concerned about was my stroller. I have a large stroller and I knew that the airline wouldn’t let me check it at the gate and it would likely take up the entire trunk of our rental car, leaving zero room for our luggage.

Luckily for me, Guzzie + Guss offered to let me test out a G+G 103 Pender stroller for our trip. Now you may not have heard of Guzzie + Guss before, but they have been around for 30+ years! They are a Canadian company that believes you don’t have to spend your child’s college fund just to get a great quality, great looking stroller.

I picked up the stroller at a great local baby store, Springy’s, who walked me through all the bells and whistles this baby had. Not only does this stroller only weigh 12.5lbs, it folded up super small, and had a carrying strap, making it easy to take everywhere. You can even lean it stand it up against a wall, for easy storage when not in use. We used this feature a lot at restaurants!

Our first test, outside the airport, was a trip to the beach! I was surprised how well the stroller manoeuvred on the sand. The control and “ride” was smooth on pavement, sand and through the airport. I found that it didn't steer well with one hand. So if you are a one hand on a coffee, one hand on a stroller type person, this may be an issue for you.

The sunshade was fantastic and so nice and big that it covered the majority of Lil B’s body. There was a little "window" at the top that provided ventilation as well as an easy way to sneak a peek at your little one while strolling around.

I loved that this stroller was equipped with a one-hand recline backrest that would adjust to 4 reclining positions. It was great that I was able to lay Lil B flat when I knew he was due for a nap (not that he did – he is too nosy for that!).

There is a decent sized basket that I used to carry spare diapers, toys and our wallets. The only downside is if your child is laying flat you have to lift the backrest slightly (enough to get your hand in) to access the basket.

The G+G 103 Stroller is great for children aged 6 months to 5 years (or up to 53lbs).
