Tailgating and what I learned at the MOTEL

This past weekend we did an annual trip to Ann Arbor, MI for a weekend of tailgating and football.  If you have never experienced tailgating at a US College game you are missing out!  

There were about 20 of us that made the trip this year complete with children! The game started at 3:30pm yet we were up and leaving the MOTEL (yep no 5 star oasis’ here) by 8:30am to get our spot on the golf course for the pre-game tailgating. 

We stay at a MOTEL for a few reasons: There are 20 of us and they don’t care about noise like hotels would. We are able to sit outside of our rooms in our lawn chairs and play games in the parking lot and it is fairly reasonably priced (even though they increase the price 100% for football weekends)

I learned a lot from our stay there this past weekend:

•  If your room is stinky just tuck bounce dryer sheets into the air conditioner vent to keep the room smelling fresh 
• If the bathroom door won’t shut because the toilet is in the way, try lifting the toilet seat – it worked for me! 
• If you don’t want people to smoke in your room, just provide them with an ashtray.  Make sure the ashtray has a no smoking sign on it though to discourage this.
